Sound Therapy refers to a range of addiction treatment therapies in which sound is used to treat physical and mental conditions. Indigenous societies around the world have traditionally used sound in healing ceremonies, including drumming, hand-clapping, singing, dancing, and pulsating since the beginning of recoreded time.
Sound Therapy Techniques
Sound Therapy techniques vary but all involve the application of sound waves and harmonic vibrations to the body through the use of instruments, including the human voice. Sound Therapy helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).
Sound Therapy & Mental Health
The application of certain sound frequencies can influence our brainwaves. This manipulation, professionals say, alters consciousness to help treat myriad ailments, including insomnia, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse recovery.
Every human body cell has its own electromagnetic field. Every human cell has and is responsive to frequency and vibration. A few healing frequencies are used to increase the client’s level of relaxation. Research has shown that Binaural beats and low-level frequencies improve a patient’s well-being.
What is Frequency?
Frequency: the number of complete oscillations per second of energy (as sound or electromagnetic radiation) in the form of waves. When these natural frequency signals between 396 hertz and 963 hertz can help our body’s ability to self-regulate and maintain healthy function. Finally, at Road to Recovery Wellness Center, sound therapy aligned with meditation is a regular therapeutic tool that we employ to enhance patient recovery. Sound healing is a common form of treatment used with Reiki also.
